Always ensure you are browsing a trusted website. Secure websites have a small padlock and a green tab next to the site’s URL address with “FCM Bank Limited [MT]” within it. Clicking on the green tab will also provide you details of the site’s security certificate. You can also look for the “https” prefix next to the web address. The “s” in “https” indicates the website is secure. The secure FCM Bank website address is “fcmbank.com.mt”. Only use this address to access our website as you might risk landing on a fraudulent site intended to gain access to your personal information.

Your username and passwords are unique to you. Never share these details with anyone else. Phishing scams are used by criminals to lure victims by email, text and phone, into handing over valuable information claiming they are from FCM Bank. We will never ask for your personal details such as username or password. So please ignore any emails, SMS or phone calls asking you to enter and provide your Online Banking details. Also, avoid passwords that are easy to guess and change your password regularly. For example avoid passwords which include your name, surname, birthdate etc.

  1. A typical phishing email will not be personally addressed to you but may begin with ‘Dear valued customer’.
  2. A phishing email might ask to “verify your account information”, which attempts to generate an action from you instinctively without thinking.
  3. The email may have spelling mistakes and poor grammar.
  1. Quote your Online Banking user ID or the last four digits of your account number. If you don’t hold an account with us we will quote your post code.
  2. Greet you personally using your title and surname.
  3. Use links in our emails that will only ever go to fcmbank.com.mt. We will never link directly through to our Online Banking log on page or ask for your personal details.
  1. Limit the amount of personal information on the internet e.g. Social Networks, as this could be used against you.
  2. Treat all emails with caution as email headers and website links may be manipulated to appear professional and legitimate.
  3. Don’t click on a link from a suspicious or unexpected email. Here are some warning signs:
    • Big promises. “You have won the lottery”
    • Big threats. “Your account has been hacked”
    • A false sense of urgency. “Act now or it'll be too late”
    • Unnecessary secrecy. “Don’t tell anyone”
    • You can’t think of any reason why they’d need to contact you. Did you even buy a lottery ticket? 
  4. ‘‘Business opportunities’’ that involve holding or receiving money for strangers

Avoid divulging personal information about yourself and your accounts on social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Identity thieves may gather such information to access your accounts.

We have set a maximum transfer limit of €5,000 per account per day. Together with this, our Online Banking only allows for payments to be transferred into your registered linked bank account. Transfers over €5,000 can be requested via secure Online Banking messaging or in writing.

We monitor transactions on a regular basis and if any suspicious activity is detected we will contact you immediately. We also encourage you to check your account regularly for suspicious activity and immediately report any discrepancies to us on 80073737 or +356 21388 388 from outside Malta.

Electronic devices such as smartphones and laptops carry a lot of our personal information. It is essential to keep your devices safe and to encrypt them with a strong password. If any of your devices are lost, please make sure to change all your passwords immediately and report it to the relevant authorities. If you have any reason to believe that your account and passwords have been compromised, please contact us and we will guide you on how to change your Online Banking details. 

We will never send you links asking you to download software. Please ignore pop-ups or suspicious messages requesting you to download software.
